Why Work at Strohmeyer Law?
At Strohmeyer Law, we believe that work should be rewarding, engaging, and yes, even a bit fun—whether that means weaving in the occasional pun or a well-placed nautical analogy. Our team is dedicated to helping clients leave No Unfinished Business®, but we also prioritize creating a workplace where our employees thrive both professionally and personally.
Here’s why you’ll love working here.
- Mentorship and Skill Development. We want you to grow and develop your skills because when you do better, we all do better. As an employee, you will be taught how to improve your work—sometimes with someone standing right over you, making sure you get it right the first time. You won’t be left to figure things out on your own, and your questions about how and why we do things will always be answered. We invest in our team’s success.
- Work Where You’re Most Productive. We believe in autonomy and trust you to manage your workload in the way that suits you best. Need help? Ask for it. Need to shift a client meeting to make time for a doctor’s appointment? We’ll make it happen. As long as your work gets done, you have the flexibility to choose where you’re most productive. However, some tasks require in-person collaboration, so full-time remote work is not an option for most positions. We value working together and building a strong team environment. If you want to work from Austin because you want to see Iron Maiden or Charly XCX, go right ahead. Get your work done and enjoy the show.
- Lunch Is on Us. While there’s no such thing as a free lunch, we will cover lunches for you when you’re in the office. We believe that a good meal fuels productivity and builds camaraderie among our team.
- Personal Days for Self-Care. Every full-time employee gets a personal day every month. This doesn’t mean you have the day off, but it’s a day where no client meetings will be scheduled for you. Use this time to take care of yourself—whether it’s a doctor’s appointment, dentist visit, therapy session, haircut, massage, or anything else you need. While you’ll still need to attend internal meetings, we recognize the importance of self-care and want to make it easier for you to prioritize it.
- Minimal Weekend Work. We respect your time and strive to maintain a healthy work-life balance. While occasional weekend work may come up, we do our best to keep it to a minimum. Your personal time matters, and we want to ensure you can enjoy it.
- Team-Building That’s Actually Fun. We believe that a strong team works best when they enjoy spending time together. That’s why we have quarterly escape room adventures, giving us a chance to solve puzzles, laugh, and collaborate in a fun, low-pressure setting.
- Join a Firm That Values People. Most law firms don’t have any stated values, but they could be summarized as “Let’s work as hard as possible all the time and leave all that other touchy-feely stuff at home.” At Strohmeyer Law, we don’t just talk about culture—we live it. If you’re looking for a workplace that values collaboration, personal well-being, and professional growth, we’d love to have you on our team!
- We Love Pets (Even If They Can’t Be in the Office) While we’d love to have an office full of furry friends, circumstances beyond our control prevent us from bringing pets into the workplace. That said, we’re a team of pet lovers who are always happy to swap stories and pictures of our four-legged family members.
Working with us will be a good fit for you if these apply.
- You like to work independently.
- You like learning new skills.
- You can manage multiple projects at once with different deadlines and deliverables.
- You’re either a ninja-class Microsoft Word user or willing to achieve that status.
- You have a “Can Do” attitude. If you don’t know how to do something, you start by looking for an answer. If you can’t find the answer, then you ask for help.
- You’re a grammar snoot. You pity people who can’t differentiate between there, they’re, and their, as well as its and it’s.
- You’re a punctuation perfectionist. You know the difference between a hyphen, an en dash, and an em dash, you can recognize an italicized comma at 50 yards, and you have a deeply held opinion on the Oxford comma.
- You’ve got a favorite font that isn’t Arial, Times New Roman, or Calibri.
- It’s nice if you have some coding experience in any language (e.g., Python, MatLab, Visual Basic, Excel, C++, HTML, CSS, or R), but not required.
This looks like a fit for me—How do I apply?
Using the Typeform below, upload your one-page resume and one-page resume cover letter as a single PDF that is no more than two pages long. The resume must include your GPA for all post-high school education. Your cover letter should be addressed to Griswold Strohmeyer. The cover letter must include your expected graduation date (if you’re in school) and favorite ice cream flavor.
We’ll review your submitted items, and if everything is in order, you’ll schedule a call with a staff member who will have a few questions for you and can answer questions you may have. If we still look like a good fit for each other, we’ll ask you to do a few more things in Microsoft Word before we schedule your last interview.
You may find it interesting to know that we use Book Antiqua for all our documents. While we don’t really mind Times New Roman and Calibri, we actively despise Arial.
